Unlock the Potential of Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality in Higher Education
When Curio’s patented educational virtual reality/augmented reality software is implemented at the university level, learning is transformed into an imaginative, innovative, and interactive environment. Students learn like never before with distraction-free virtual classrooms, engaging 3-D models and labs, and a database of cutting-edge resources. Curio can be used for in-person or distance classrooms, 1:1 tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and more.
Traditionally, students often wait until after their first exam results to seek help, usually when they don’t perform as well as expected. However, with Curio’s immersive and interactive VR experience, students are motivated to get involved sooner. The excitement of exploring new and innovative learning methods draws them in, making studying feel less like a chore and more like an adventure.
This proactive engagement not only enhances their understanding of the material but also improves their overall academic performance. By making learning fun and accessible, Curio helps students build confidence and develop effective study habits from the outset. Experience the difference that early engagement can make with Curio, where learning meets innovation.

“Based on our experience using Curio successfully over the past school year in our campus learning center, I could certainly see us making headsets available all over campus, in libraries, and in dormitories, to provide a more immersive and effective method of learning for students.”

Vincennes University:
Improving Student Outcomes
Vincennes University started using Curio in January of 2021 with the goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of on campus tutoring. Participants are given Meta Quest headsets which enable them to meet with tutors in custom virtual classrooms and engage with Curio’s many interactive learning tools. Alli Temple, Director of the Academic Center for Excellence, developed an initial implementation plan that ensured students felt comfortable using their Meta Quest 2 headsets and felt supported academically as well.
Tutors and tutees at Vincennes University acclimated to the technology quickly and began successfully holding virtual tutoring sessions full of engaging and interactive resources that supported learning. Students who participate in the program report an increased ability to master the academic concepts presented in their VR tutoring sessions. In addition to the academic benefits, students feel the virtual reality classroom allows them to connect with peers on an interpersonal level.
“Curio is designed for the curious at heart, for those of us that are forever learners and are not content with what we already know. This app brings one-on-one tutoring into your home so everyone has the ability to learn shoulder to shoulder with anyone in the world. This is what makes it such an amazing tool for our society; with Curio, no one gets left behind.”
Dennis Tedrow, Admissions Counselor & Community Engagement Specialist, former VU Professional Tutor
University of Toledo:
Increasing Engagement
The University of Toledo began using the CurioXR app to expand the possibilities of teaching and tutoring on campus. Curio’s virtual classroom and educational tools have been implemented in supplemental instruction (SI) sessions and tutoring sessions. University administrators Tia Tucker and Julie Radwanski survey the effectiveness and benefits of their VR program and report many positive findings.
According to university data, students at the University of Toledo demonstrate a higher engagement with academic content on the CurioXR app than in traditional settings. Additionally, students are more likely to attend sessions enhanced with VR than sessions without VR, and they spend more time with tutors in VR sessions versus in traditional sessions. These findings highlight a strong potential for Curio to increase engagement and student motivation.
Additionally, administrators at the University of Toledo discovered the value of implementing Curio’s platform within their professional healthcare curriculum. Professors have found that VR is a great way to train students on certain prerequisite skills required for their healthcare majors. Curio provided students with a strong foundation on which to build knowledge as they advance through their majors.

Del Mar College:
Empowered Tutoring
The college’s goal in implementing Curio was to improve tutoring sessions on campus. Omar Villarreal, Director of the Student Success Center at Del Mar, developed an implementation plan to integrate Curio into tutoring sessions. The program matches tutors with tutees who meet for tutoring sessions using Curio’s virtual classroom environment.
The program has been very successful and yields positive results for students. Those who have had the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the VR/AR app during tutoring sessions feel like the app has helped them better learn the content. Overall, the students at Del Mar College felt academically empowered by their learning experience with Curio.
